What song of yours is the one you like the most?
My favorite Zllynz tune at the moment is Mile Hi Club, mainly because its pretty recent and charted in the Top 11on local station Radioactive 88.6FM
I wanna go higher, about a mile
yeah I wanna go higher with you
we’ll be like fireworks, gonna fly like birds
look out and admire the view
Suspended belief of gravity
suspended in space, the earth beneath
from a satellite eye view there’s so much to see
come set alight the night sky with me
feet in the clouds head in the stars mile after mile
travelling faster than the speed of love, can you feel the rush?
come on come up come join the club
Its time to fly lets defy gravity
dive into the sky, float up high above the city
up into the stratosphere, nothing matters up here
I can see the curve of the earth and the curves of your body
and it occurs to me that we’re more than a mile up, so lets join the club
Clouds like cotton wool look so much more comfortable than some toilet on a plane, I’m your toy boy – let me play with you on a higher plane
but I don’t mean rental, its gonna be transcendental, kisses flying left right and centre, welcome to the flight centre, I’m the pilot that you sent for, the one that you’re meant for, and from the air points I gained from this game I won this metaphysical domain, so lets rain our love down on the town, rain on their parade, ejaculate and immaculate pyrotechnical
display, like the coming of the lord but more than Jesus or Allah or any of those other hairy fullaz, between us I’m feeling the sexual healing of all human kind, freeing the minds of the slaves and the oppressors combined, we can do it baby, we just gotta get higher
How do you write your music?
In a number of ways – Coming a hook and going from there, freestyling on a topic, making a melody
and chord pattern and fitting words in, jamming, and a combination of the above
What influences do you have?
We are influenced by so much stuff – LA beat maker scene, jazz, Robert Glasper, Haitian drumming, Detroit hip hop, Slum Village, Haitus Kayote, kimchi, D’Angelo, Morrocan trance music
, wele, Wayne Smith, Reggae/Dancehall, R Kelly, Wondercore Island, Che Fu…
What´s the best experience you have had with your project?
Playing a cranking set live to a cool audience
What plans do you have this year?
Recording EP, summer NZ tour and work on mew material
Mention something you don´t like about your project.
Not gigging enough and limited funds. The NZ music scene is cool, but there are only so many places to play and competition is strong.
Mention the biggest sacrifice you did for your project.
Time with family
What band, music project or solist from your city do you like?
My favorite musical act from Wellington would be beat maker Cave Circles (aka Riki Gooch). He introduced me to a lot of great LA beat maker stuff and labels such as Stone’s Throw and Brainfeeder through his music. He is also a great drummer and all round musician.
If your project was a word, what would it be?
– J-ZLLZ – vocalist and guitarist in Wellington City New Zealand
