ALiENPiG

Hi I’m Willy thee ALiENPiG, I do most of the ALiENPiG music myself, with a little help from my brother in-law Malkieboy on his far out psych guitar. I’ve been playin’ music since the early 70s and I’ve played in many different bands with varying degrees of success.

What song of yours is the one you like the most?

That’s a hard one to answer as it changes all the time, but out of all my recent songs I think the Jiminator 3,000 is the one I would pick for this moment in time.

The Jiminator 3,000 – words –
The days grow cold, the dogs are old,
the droogs are worn and the curtains torn
the glitter lies in the gutter
our time has gone but we got it on
and now it’s time to kickback and watch the Jiminator 3,000
We’ll watch the Jiminator 3,000
As we look up to the sky and try to work out why
we shouldn’t be watchin’ that
we should be lookin’ at the coolest cat
The Jiminator 3,000

How do you write your music?

Ideas just seem to flood my mind all the time, when I’m watching movies, walking down the street or listening to music, especially instrumental music. It always varies, sometimes I write the words first other times it’s the beats or a melody that kicks it off.

What influences do you have?

They are many and varied, I could slim it down to punk, reggae, blues and psychedelic. Bowie has been a massive influence and when I was a youngster the Beatles were the first band I really took notice of. Punk with The Ramones and Sex Pistols was the big one that showed me that I could take my diy music out of the bedroom and into the live scene.

What´s the best experience you have had with your project?

I think without a doubt the internet, so many people digging my sounds has been a real buzz. The internet has also led on to many gigs and projects with other creative people.

What plans do you have this year?

I’ve got quite a few projects on the go, one which I’m working on just now is an EP with a local poet called Fred, in the summer I’ll be workin’ on a second eLeKanOK EP with my good friend Anarky George, my own next album is at the writing stage and I’ve been doin’ some live and recording work with the Mighty Sparrahawk. Oh and I love doin’ remixes for other bands and have a few coming up. It’s all music, music, music with the occasional video thrown in.

Mention something you don´t like about your project.

Working on my own in my tiny kitchen studio most of the time can get to be pretty boring and claustrophobic. Our 2 cats who use the window to get in and out to the garden become my audience as they sit on the window sill bemused by my mad chanting, I try to get them to join in with their own wailing but they just look at me like I’m stupid, maybe I should teach them how to play the piano.

Mention the biggest sacrifice you did for your project.

The worst has to be the many great gigs I’ve missed over the years because I’ve been busy with my own music.

What band, music project or solist from your city do you like?

There are a few bands that I dig locally, so I’ll just make a wee list – Fin-Ray, The Mighty Sparrahawk, Adam-Son, The Girobabies, Luminous and Azure Halo. All put out excellent music and are well worth checking out online.

If your project was a word, what would it be?
– This is a weird one, hmmmm, let me think. Salmagundi, that would fit perfectly.
