Elememacote

When did the project begin? and How did you meet yourselves?

Elememacote began around late 2010. I first started the band as a solo outfit in the U.S. then I met various musicians in my local area near the suburbs of San Francisco who were either people I met at highschool, craigslist ads, or just at shows.

What song of yours is the one you like the most?

That’s a tough one to answer because the favorites always change, but I would say my constant favorite track has been SUBSTANTAIL MODES because I went through a lot of fun experiences writing that track and collaborating with a friend named Jesse Bellino who drummed on the song and to be honest, I could never write lyrics to it because I always liked it more when I did instrumental songs.
Sometimes words are very limiting in my opinion.

How do you write your music?

I usually write the music by myself just to get the bulk of the ideas in place, and if I feel like it needs any additional footing, I will collaborate with other musicians to add some more variety. Every member who has come and gone has influenced the music in some way or another and its always exciting to add new musicians into the mix.

What influences do you have?

I am influenced by everything really, I believe life is very esoteric and that inspires me everyday to create new songs, as far as bands go, I have always loved Incubus, Skinny Puppy, Korn, Fear Factory, Godflesh, Filter, I was born in the early 90s so I am a sucker for that era of music.

musicsoundrocks2 - copiaWhat´s the best experience you have had with your project?

When I got to open up for a classic Bay Area thrash metal band called BLIND ILLUSION who recently reunited , that was a killer moment for me, and the guitarist actually told me he liked my style and I was just dumbstruck happy.

What plans do you have this year?

I will continue to write new material as I move forward, but mostly, I want to also develop my guitar playing and vocal delivery, as long as I am having fun with what I am doing, then that makes me happy.

Mention something you don´t like about your project.

Back when I first tried to add vocals to my music, I really despised my singing at the time, I also unfortunately was not happy with the fact that I was being the drummer of the band because I was a drummer for most of my music career and I had a strong desire to become a frontman.

Mention the biggest sacrifice you did for your project.

Moving overseas to Europe and leaving all my gear behind to start fresh. That was both scary and exciting.

What band, music project or solist from your city do you like?

To be honest, I cannot really think of anyone particularly from Glasgow because I am not really a fan of my local city scene but as far as soloists, I have a relative named Dave Arcari who does his own delta blues guitar music and he puts on a good show for what he does.

If your project was a word, what would it be?

-Maniacal

-John Paul Robertson. Guitarist and singer. Kelvinbridge flat district.
