Enemy Minds

Enemy Minds started in mid 2014. Jay (Bass/Vocals), found us on a local internet forum called Gumtree! He rolled in full of life, with plenty of talent to back it up so he walked straight in to the line up. Steve (Drums) and I have been mates for a long time and have played in bands together before. We were in need of a drummer and it’s great when you happen to know an awesome one!
What song of yours is the one you like the most?
Our best material is currently being recorded and will be all over social media, bandcamp, soundcloud etc very shortly. Here is a clip of a couple of our older songs from a local live show. I have attached the Lyrics

One more city
Verse I

When I come down
(One more city, one more tale)
I wanna see your face
All the lights and sounds
(loud enough to drown you out)
I want it all in place

Verse II

let daylight break
It starts right fucking now
(today is the day)
i want you out of the way
before my time runs out

Chorus

for now i’m buried under you
and i am holding on
to everything you promised me
Oh don’t you let me down  (Oh don’t you let me down)

Today could mean the world to me
But you won’t be the man
to make the choices i can make
oh don’t you turn around  (Oh don’t you turn around)

Verse III

I feel im inside out
(perfect time to take a breath)
my doubts are following me
my motives count me down
(notch this belt before it breaks)
i think i’m finally ready

Chorus

for now i’m buried under you
and i am holding on
to everything you promised me
Oh don’t you let me down  (Oh don’t you let me down)

today could mean the world to me
but you can be the man
to make the choices i can make
oh don’t you turn around  (Oh don’t you turn around)

Sinking Always Sinking
Verse 1

Terrified, justified
a fear they never see
A fog that medicates itself
closing in on me

I swerve to correct
But never find the road
When i call there are no answers
A mistrust that i’ve bestowed

Chorus

Should i run
do i hide
are they searching for me
coast to coast i am lost

In my heart
In my mind
I am waiting for you
A fear that you will never come

Verse 2

Faith will never find you
your concious always will
It speaks to you in darkness
it tells you to give in

I’ve lost more than i care to count
and i’m losing what i need
the good things that surround me
that pull me from the deep

Chorus

Should i run
do i hide
are they searching for me
coast to coast i am lost

In my heart
In my mind
I am waiting for you
A fear that you will never come

Outro

Sinking Always Sinking
But never second guess
Drowning in the water
A pit so bottomless

This Faith will never find you
your concious always will
It speaks to you in darkness
it tells you to give in

How do you write your music?
At the moment we are enjoying the fast paced punk sounds with the heavier delivery. We write most of the songs around a riff or a progression that we love rocking out to. We record everything live in the jam room and then I take it away and come back with a melody and a partial set of lyrics. Once we have the lyrics it’s easier to build the structure and from there we just fine tune it until we are happy with the song.
What influences do you have?
The punk influences definitely come from early 90’s/2000’s punk rock. From Millencolin, Pennywise through to Rise Against. Modern Day influences I’d have to say, The Story So Far, The Ghost inside,
What´s the best experience you have had with your project?
We have played a couple of small festival shows and some EP launches which have been a highlight. We recently played and EP launch for another Perth band, Fight. The Morning. Both bands got on stage at the end of the night and blasted out an old punk cover which was awesome.
What plans do you have this year?
We are in the process of recording and releasing our debut EP. We are looking forward to launching that and really stringing a long run of shows together. We are looking forward to travelling a little further for shows and doing some PR stuff and getting our music out there.
Mention something you don´t like about your project (It could be anything, try to answer this in an interesting way).
We recently went from a four piece to a three piece after trying out some new guitarists in between times. It’s been hard work finding what suited us the most musically and personally. I think we have definitely found our groove as a three piece and I am loving being back on the guitar and rocking out.
Mention the biggest sacrifice you did for your project
I think putting friendships aside and removing a guitarist was a big decision for us but ultimately for the best.
What band, music project or solist from your city do you like? Why?
Pat Chow, The Love Junkies, Hopestreet. All great live shows. Check them out and it’s easy to see why they are leading the charge in Perth, WA.
If your project was a word, what would it be? (Please don´t use the name of your project, instead try to use something interesting)
Goodtimes!
Who answered these questions? Where were you when you answered the interview?
Griz – Guitar/Lead Vocals. At work………. pretending to be doing work
