Keith Rantin
“For me i always wanted to be involved in music, but none of my experiments with music, as in trying to write songs, freestyling to myself, table beat cypher, at the lunch table, trumpet in elementary school….. None of that mattered it all began when I actually made a beat that wasn’t terrible sounding…It kinda boosted my ego/confidence & I continued to pursue it on a more passionate level. I was always experimenting with music “on the low”.
“When I had CD players, I’d figured out a way to pull the headphone jack out partially so you’d Mostly hear the beat & id freestyle over it or just vibe out, I’d write songs. For some reason I was embarrassed when I was younger, kinda fearful of judgment. But that faded with majority. From there I just been working on my craft & trying to get good music out there”
What song of yours is the one you like the most?
“My favorite song is actually a song I just released called “Vancouver Bae Club”.

Lyrics
Got these girls coming like centripetal
Got their tongues
Flipping like reciprocals
Flow so cold
It bring a hoe a chill
Pussy poppin for me
Cuz she know it’s real
That Ass too fat
My hand about to slip
Knew she was a go
The way she licked her lips
Head was on fire
Swear that bitch name was cinnamon
See the way we fuck
I swear it belong in cinema
Shawty roll my weed
We never fucking with Reggie mane
Took a shot for me
Now pussy breaking
The Levi mane
Bet that shit be Atlantic
Throw it back if it’s aerial
POV the best
The views better from aerial
These theories come
With consequences
These trophies come
expenses
Member back in the days
When these hoes was just
Some wishes
Now we put on a show
And all these Vixens
Granting wishes
Guess they thought they was genies
Bet that frame be a bottle
Twisted thoughts probably
Loosely based upon of all these fucking models
How do you write your music?
“Most of the time I freestyle and go off that idea, if like it enough then I start writing based on what I was freestyling. I sometimes just write for the sake of writing but that content rarely gets used”.
What influences do you have?
“I listen to a lot of different music so I have a LOT of influences. Honesty could probably fill a book but to name a few: Rick James, Kanye west, bootsy Collins, daft punk, future, roger troutman, prince., kid cudi, q-tip…. It’s a lot lol”.
What´s the best experience you have had with your project?
“Definitely having the HotNewHipHop HeatSeekers list. I’m heavy follower of the blog, & have been for years, so to see my music on there now that I’m doing music, just meant a lot. It felt like it was a step in the right direction”.
What plans do you have this year?
“I definitely plan to a beat tape before the end of the year. I have a lot of sitting music so I want to start moving some of it & getting it out there. Other than that I Plan to keep working & creating just getting better. Definitely would like to see my local audience & general audience grow so definitely more on that”.
Mention something you don´t like about your project.
“I would definitely say it’s not the best quality. I do my own mixing, which I’m just starting to grasp, but I’m getting better. Other than that, I love the project for those who know me & my music you can definitely see a growth And you can see it even more with the newer music. Oh! & I want to get to the point where I’m producing all of my music so I don’t really like that it’s not produced solely by myself”.
Mention the biggest sacrifice you did for your project.
“I think it was releasing the project in general was my biggest sacrifice. Since I don’t have a large team with engineers & I mix guy the quality isn’t ideal but I enjoy I still enjoy the project & have the regrets about it. I focus on getting where I need to be instead of where I think I should be or what should have been. Though I feel quality isn’t always peaking for me it is really critical to me”.
What band, music project or solist from your city do you like? Why?
“I’m a fan of B.Newb, it’s a band called The Breedz , Wendel Patrick, & Tate Kobang they all have a sound of their own & that’s rare in Baltimore, where the main music type is trap style hip hop”.
If your project was a word, what would it be?
“Experience, it would be the start of something great to come. ”
What´s your full name? Where were you when you answered the interview?
“Keith Rantin…I answered while I was preparing in the studio”
