What song of yours is the one you like the most?

I’m liking our most recently recorded ones Cobaw/Fools Gold but seeing as they’re not released yet, I’ll link you to one I’ve had a soft spot for a while, Jorge Buccio. it’s fluety, it’s fun to play guitar in, it’s got that bit some people say reminds them of Mad World at the end of it…

How do you write your music?

It’s pretty varied, sometimes we dream them up like Paul McCartney’s famous Brownbird or Yesterday, sometimes we think them up while making one of our famous rice-pasta dishes (that’s rice with a side of pasta, it’s a rice based dish…) the most common process of recent has been to “jam” out a 1-2 min idea initially, get bored/stuck with it, then revisit it subsequently until one of us writes the section we all wish we had, to get that extra slice of the $$$ pie… then force ourselves to play it at a gig to see if it needs anything else! in other words It’s clunky for the most part, but it’s sort of what we keep coming back too. If someone’s arranged a tune start to finish and it’s gold (fools gold let’s not forget) then that’s very welcomed too though! What influences do you have? ALDI, The city of Milan, Andre Agassi, late 90’s – early 00’s AFL memories, The theme from the bill, and I guess “funky” music.

The Cactus Channel - MusicSound.rocksWhat´s the best experience you have had with your project?

Keeping my angsty friends from prinny hill, driving in a van entirely made of sand on tours, supporting Melbourne ledgends, International ledgends, any ledgends, that time some of us got a cab home in Sydney and it was a karaoke cab. And of coarse recording/mixing our latest single Cobaw/Fools Gold!

What plans do you have this year?

We’re doing a trip up the coast again as well as a big old Melbourne Hopestreet launch of the aforementioned tracks with our esteemed stablemates. We’ve got a few collaborative works in the process we hope to get all ready too in between the gigs and finishing the 2nd season of Twin Peaks…

Mention something you don´t like about your project.

OMG. Moving gear from one place in space/time to any other, at any time, please help us, I swear guitar amplifiers don’t have to be that heavy.

musicsoundrocks2 - copiaMention the biggest sacrifice you did for your project.

Either giving away my sense of smell, or taking 3 days off work next week to shoot the clip for Cobaw, cos you know like, that pays for my cooks-in-4-mins frozen spinach/feta ravioli. How else am I gonna fill my weekly pasta quota? let alone the rice…

What band, music project or solist from your city do you like?

I for one, though there are so many I could mention, and so many the other members could, have listened to the Dorsal Fins new album very consistently recently and dig it to bits, they’re just as good live. Maybe it’s the whole 9-10 piece thing…

If your project was a word, what would it be?

– Cazaley

– Lewis, I was on the 55 tram and I nearly missed my stop so if someone could maybe reimburse me for that emotional turmoil that would be great.
